Pipe Extrusion Line FAQ

Start from the pipe material and end use. HDPE and PE lines usually go to water supply, gas, irrigation, and cable duct pipe. PVC lines run twin screw extrusion for PVC powder and cover drainage, pressure pipe, and conduit. PPR lines mainly make hot and cold water pipe, with single layer, multi layer, or glass fiber reinforced options.

Yes, one line usually covers a diameter range, but molds, calibration sleeves, and downstream settings get changed between sizes. A very wide range may need separate line planning, especially when small and large diameter pipe have different cooling, haul off, and cutting needs.

Check output by material, pipe diameter, wall thickness, and cooling capacity, not by extruder model alone. A suitable line matches the extruder, die, vacuum calibration, cooling tank, haul off, and cutter or winder so the pipe runs continuously at the size you need.

Wall thickness stability comes down to die design, melt pressure, vacuum calibration, haul off synchronization, and line speed. Before we recommend a configuration, we confirm pipe diameter, wall thickness or SDR, material, and output target together.

Twin screw extrusion is the norm for PVC pipe, because PVC powder compound needs stable plasticizing, accurate temperature control, and proper mixing. PE, PPR, PP, TPU, and many flexible materials usually run single screw, depending on product structure and material behavior.

A complete line can include vacuum calibration tank, cooling tank, haul off, cutter, winder, stacker, belling machine, printer, co extruder, or online measurement. What you need depends on material, diameter, line speed, pipe length, and whether the pipe is coiled or cut straight.

They drive pipe roundness, OD stability, surface quality, and long run speed. For medium and large diameter PE or MPP pipe, cooling length should match pipe size, wall thickness, and expected output. Too little cooling and you get ovality and deformation.

Yes. Color stripe, multi layer, and reinforced pipe need extra co extruders and matching die design. Before we configure, we confirm the pipe structure, layer material, stripe quantity, diameter, and target application.

Precision and medical tube put the focus on OD and ID tolerance, concentricity, stable traction, clean operation, online measurement, and winding control. Output is not the main priority here. Repeatability and dimensional control usually matter more.
